It began as a 1 hour show in an area that was 88% Roman Catholic as the premiere show if its kind on a 3,000 watt station, WKBI-FM in St. Marys, PA. Over the years, a change in time or length was never requested. However, the station management at the time continued to offer more time & earlier time slots.
WKBI-FM, now a 25,000 watt station serving 9 counties in PA that includes 3 or 4 in the southern tier of NY is in a "non-rated" market & therefore does not "qualify" for a reporter status, it does boast an average "CUME" of 30,000 & a potential total audience of 125,000 in a top-rated "county-by-county" market as conducted by Arbitron. "Bread-n-Jam! was heard on this station consistantly every Sunday night from 8-11pm. In the Fall of 2002, "Bread-n-Jam!" finished a 12 year run on WKBI-FM & began a brief sabbatical before its re-launch on the new 30,000 watt Christian rock station, RevFM in State College, PA, which signed on the air in the Summer of 2004. "Bread-n-Jam!"tranferred its library of some 2,600 titles into the new station's database and now is heard Saturdays from 9pm-Midnight by more than 250,000 potential listeners.
Within our new coverage area, we will reach the campuses of Penn State (Main Campus) and its satellite campuses in Central Pennsylvania, Penn State/DuBois, and the University of Pennsylvania/Lockhaven. We also pick up listeners as they travel through our listening area via Interstate 80 from Clearfield to Milton, PA. Motorists traveling on I-99 from Altoona to State College will also get a clear signal from this new station.
The show's format will be primarily Rock/Alternative, with some hard (or "Loud") artists included. Industrial/Gothic and techno-rave artists will be featured in a one hour weekly segment called, "The Industrial Wasteland". The show will also feature unsigned artists in the Bread-n-Jam!IndieEmpire once each hour as well as Christian rock hits of the past in the Bread-n-Jam!Retro segment heard once per week and a different artist is featured with 2 songs back-to-back in the Bread-n-Jam!DoubleDecker.
The hourly song rotations rely heavily on hits that are on an upward charting course from charts/playlists from the national chart scene with strong emphasis placed on new releases. Roughly 13 songs are played per hour & include 3 stop-set breaks for local avails. Where available, time is also allowed, free of charge, to labels submitting non-commercial versions of :30 or :60 ads for new album releases (pre-produced on either CD or mini-disc) which do not contain a "call to action". Other avail time is filled by ads by church denominations, LifeLine Productions, and the local venue in the area that Kenosis Christian Media serves by booking live artists (The Scarlet Cord, Brookville, PA) 25 times per year.
If you need more info on the show, or about what Kenosis Christian Media provides in terms of booking artists to the area, feel free to drop me a note! You can also visit my personal website to keep up with the latest stuff!
