When Bread-n-Jam first went on the air, Kenosis Christian Media did not exist. When the show was approved for reporter status with the Pure Rock Report (which later became the Progressive Airplay Journal), record labels needed to know where to send new releases since the show's original home (WKBI-FM in St. Marys, PA) did not produce the show "in house".The name kenosis was found by accident while using the dictionary.  There, it was discovered that the word kenosis, as defined by the Random House College Dictionary, means:

"n. Theol. The acceptance by Christ of the limitations of human nature in becoming man, but without the impairment of His divinity. [<Gk: an emptying (to empty out, drain)]".

When Jesus came earth he went through a kenosis, where He was poured into the mold of man, but in doing so his powers were not limited to his earthly body. On the other hand we all went through a genesis, which means to begin or create. We where created and put on this earth, whereas Jesus was here before the beginning of mankind, is here now, and always shall be. The broken letters in the word Kenosis signifies how Jesus's body was broken for us, though not a bone in his body was broken when he was crucified on the cross, his human body was "broken" by the blood that was shed. The "O" in Kenosis represents the crown of thorns that Jesus was forced to wear, and also represents his humanity. The star in the center of the crown of thorns represents Jesus' divinity, and the rays streaminging beyond the crown signifies how that divinity was not limited to His human body.

The Bible speaks about this kenosis in both the Old and the New Testaments.  In Isaiah 53:12:

Therefore I will give Him a portion among the great, and He will divide the spoils with the strong because He poured out His life unto deathand was numbered with the transgressors.  For He bore the sins of many, and made intercession for the transgressors. [NIV]

And centuries later as Paul spoke to the people of Philippi in Philippians 2:7-8

Instead He emptied Himself by assuming the form of a slave, taking on the likeness of men.  And when He had come as a man in His external form, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death -- even to death on a cross.  [HCSV]

Kenosis Christian Media does more than produce Bread-n-Jam. One area is in the booking of bands, namely for the Scarlet Cord Teen Center in Brookville, PA.
